French and Saunders - Part I

French and Saunders have always been a duo who have been in my life whether it's as a partnership or as French or Saunders in their various character roles. They are both idols of mine especially Jennifer Saunders so when I found out they were touring this year for the final time I had to make sure I'd see them. I got my tickets about nine weeks ago and had been counting down the days until it was finally the 7th March 2008. When the day arrived I was so excited but also a little stressed because of clothing issues but that wasn't going to ruin what was going to be a fantastic show.

The morning of the show I had to rush out and get a new outfit to wear because items I'd ordered either came or didn't fit or came and had faults or didn't turn up at all. So I rushed round some shops and got a lovely new bag, a ring, some amazing shoes, some black smart bootcut jeans and a purple preppy type shirt. Got home and the shirt didn't fit so I was worried, thought I better look and see what I've got and found a new top I'd forgot I had and it went with everything else I was going to wear so that made everything OK again.

Fast forward to 4:40pm. I was meant to be at the trainstation to meet Lyndsey but the taxi wasn't here. The train was at 4:58 so I was panicking and worried I was going to miss it. By 4:50pm my dad decided to drive us down and leave the car at the station overnight. We got there with five minutes to spare and tried to run up to the platform to get tickets. Luckily for us the train was 10 minutes behind schedule so we were happy about that but there was no signs of Lynds. Lynds finally turned up a few minutes before the train was due and we gave up waiting to get tickets and made our way across to the right platform. Standing there was no fun because it was blowing a breeze and my hair was flying round all over the place and the train was running even further behind so we weren't too pleased as we stood there getting colder and colder. When the train finally arrived we were happy to get a seat for our slow journey down to Manchester.
We were meant to go to one Manchester station and change over for another but we decided to get a taxi across to the theatre because we knew it wasn't far. But first we went up to McDonalds and had a double cheese-burger each to help fill a hole. Then off we went in search of a taxi which then drove us round in circles to get us to the theatre and all of us sat in the back knowing what he was doing. Finally we got there and he dropped us round the corner when it would of been just as easy to drop us outside or across the road but never mind.

Now it was time to find a bar for a nice drink before the show but we ended up walking the wrong way then getting directed another way and ending up near where we started before we eventually found somewhere to have a drink. I guess you could call it a hard rockers bar because of the music and because of how everyone was dressed. The three of us fit in like a sore thumb so to speak. Two drinks later and we were off in search of some chocolate to eat and some plasters for my little toes which were rubbing in my new shoes.

Mini eggs and two free plasters later Lynds was shoving a carrier bag down my coat and making me feel like a bit of an idiot as we lined up to get into te theatre. I was standing there thinking people were gonna think I was deformed or something or the chocolate was going to melt over over me and I'd look like I'd had a weird kind of fake tan accident.
Bought a program and then went in search of a toilet before buying a small bottle of water and heading for our seats. We had a great view from where we were so I was happy for that and a few minutes later it was time for the show to start.
