Well there really isn't too much to say about this week really because I've spent most of it ill.
I started to feel ill on Sunday but it didn't feel like anything too major, in fact it felt like something I used to get a lot so I thought I'd be OK by the middle of the week but I was very wrong. Tuesday afternoon the top of my mouth and my throat started to get sore and I knew as soon as it started that it would turn into a cold, I just hoped my throat wouldn't get too bad because I get tonsilitis a lot and I have to have them out next time I get it bad so I was hoping I wouldn't get it. By Wednesday I had a full on cold/flu thing and it was getting worse and worse by the hour. I think the worst day/time was Wednesday night/Thursday morning because that's when I felt the worst. Friday I felt the best I'd felt in days but I still felt rough and my voice started to go which was horrible.
Saturday I was better than I'd been in days and my voice seemed to be a little better. I cut right down on the medication like I do as soon as I can and I knew I was finally on the home stretch so-to-speak. Although I did wake up with a cold-sore which is never good because I can't stand them.
Saturday I ended up driving my dad around the course route for the Blackburn 10k which my running club organizes each year. He basically has to go round it and mark out where the signs have to go and it's much quicker if someone is driving the person round so they can get out and spray paint the road so the next morning they don't have to mess around and find out where the signs go and they can go out and just put the signs out.
We even went to Asda and got the weeks shopping in too so I must of been on the mend because I'd been so ill all week I didn't even get out the house.
Today I've been and marshalled the race with Lyndsey. I tried to get a good nights sleep but that wasn't going to happen. I couldn't get to sleep because my coldsore was agony. It was all I could feel, it stinging and pulsating all night. I was in a half sleep when I wasn't led there awake so I didn't even need the three alarms I had set because I was wide awake when the first one went off.
I was a little worried when Lynds wasn't here about 20 mins before the start of the race but she was stuck behind a learner driver. I don't think I've ever been a bad learner driver even when I first started to learn and I've been stuck behind some really bad learners before and I know I am still a learner because I've not taken my test yet but I've been driving for almost 2 years now and people tell me I am nothing like a learner......(anyway today I decided to book some lessons for next month so I can be told what are my bad habits and then sort them out and then go for my test and get myself a car).
Anyway Lyndsey was soon here and we were on our way to where we needed to be. There was loads of cars parked and people running up and down as we passed Witton Park but we weren't marshalling there. I knew where we were marshalling but I'd only been there once via car and that was in the oppostire direction to way we were going so it made it a little harder to work out how to get there but we got there.
Our marshalling point was 3/4 of the way down this little lane, there are only a couple of houses down there and the rest of it it all fields and wooded area and there is a cemetry further down there. It's a really nice place to walk, I like going round there with Lucky or I ride my bike from my house and end up down where we were today.
The first runner wasn't going to pass us until around 20/25 past 11 so we just had a laugh as we waited. The race started at 11 so we just waited around and when we saw the lead motorbike I wasn't expecting it even though they were due. Ronnie was riding the lead motorbike and he said hello to me as I've known him about 10 years.
It wasn't long before the person in second place was running past and then there was a steady stream of the fastest runners passing us.
After a while our arms were hurting so as soon as there was a little break in the runners we ran across to the opposite side (one of us were stood at each side) so we could they use our other arm, I think we swapped at least twice more before the 2 marshalls (at the post before ours) ran in with the last runner and relieved us of our duities.
It was nice because a lot of the runners thanked us as they went past which I thought was nice but they know we do it for free and give up our time to go and do this so it's just nice to hear a lot of them say "thank you" or even "hello" as some of them said on their way past.
We then went and picked some signs up before going back to Witton Park and picking some more up. I couldn't see my dad, he was in hiding when we got there haha....well he wasn't but it took me a little while to find him. He then did the presentation as I stood there in the sun dying for a drink with dry lips which were covered in dry skin.
Lynds decided to go then and not go back for the meal, I don't blame her for going because I was bored stood around and it was so hot out there. I was boiling and dying for a drink.
As soon as I got my dad still for a minute I managed to find out there was some bottles of water and bananas left over so I had a nice drink which I'd been dying for...I was totally dehydrated!!
I then went and got the car and my dad filled it up before we went up to The Butlers Arms to join some of the other marshalls for something to eat and drink.
The wait for the food was long and when it came there wasn't much and it was very bland so I won't be going there again that's for sure.
It was a good day but my coldsore was throbbing like crazy, I had a banging headache and a tempreature (teach me not to forget sunglasses again) so on the way home we went to Morrison's. I got some Anadin, paracetomol and some better cold sore cream. I have since had all three and my coldsore is still throbbing but not as bad as it was, my headache isn't as bad but it's still there (it's from the sun, I get it a lot) and I am still burning up but I'm much better for taking them and hopefully will be OK in the morning.
I am hoping to have a good nights sleep tonight as I've not slept much all week with being ill so need to catch up on my sleep.
I've been watching Dancing on Ice this evening and the result show is on in a few minutes so I will be off now to watch that hehe x
