Glasgow

I am planning on going to Glasgow in a couple of months time to visit a very special person who means the world to me.
I have never been to Scotland before and I am very nervous about going and I am worried about understanding what they are saying.
I had that problem when I met my friend and I was forever asking him what he just said. Now I am so used to him that I understand about 90% of what he's saying to me and I rarely have to ask him what he just said. But I know that when I go I'm going to be in the same position of not understanding what people are saying to me and that really worries me. I don't want these people thinking I am ignorant or anything because I miss something they are saying or I think they have said something that htye didn't say. Does anyone know what I mean and what I am going on about? Has anyone had this problem? Or does anyone have this problem?
I have a problem with understanding accents? I'm not very good at picking them up t all and I don't know why. I'm even like that with people I have known for years that only have a slight accent so I am worried about going up to bonny wee Scotland and making a complete ass off myself or summat. But they probably wont have a clue what I say as I can parrot on and mumble from time to time but then again that is just me and you either love me or hate me for it but at the end of the day I can't be anyone but me.
So anyway back to what I started this post about and haven't mentioned yet.

I was looking at accommodation and I found that you can stay at Glasgow University for about £15 a night which I thought was cheap and in my price limit and good value for what you get. Here's the link so you can have a look: http://reservations.bookhostels.com/kasbah.com/noavailability.php?PHPSESSID=ntfmd01ialuc43ihhkjft57ebva4u5te
I hope that works ok for you if you are going to have a look.
But my friend says that is at the other side of Glasgow and it would be further for him to travel each day. So now I am trying to find somewhere else for the same sort of price per night as I don't really have much money. Does anyone know of anywhere that is cheap and nice were I can stay in Glasgow? It doesn't have to be B&B but if it was I would be willing to pay a little more, say £20 a night. I wanted to go for three night but it is impossible as my friend works so it has to be three days and two nights. So any help would be appreciated.
I have never been to Scotland before, have any of you been to Scotland or even Glasgow as that would be better. Also I need to find out about cheap train fares or bus fares. I would prefer to go on a train as I would be less travel sick but again it all depends on the cost. I don't feel like being on a cramp bus for hours. At least on a train you can strech your legs more and it's faster, I think.

What does everyone think?
